Erasmus+ is the EU’s overarching programme for education, training, youth and sport. The original Erasmus began in 1987 as an exchange programme that gave higher education students a taste of life and learning abroad. Over the past 30 years it has grown into something much bigger.

In 2017 we invite you to join us in celebrating 30 years of European Union exchange programmes ‘From Erasmus to Erasmus+’! Throughout the year the 30th anniversary website will profile the projects and people who’ve taken part in Erasmus+ (and previous programmes), and explore how their experiences have contributed to the development of Europe as a whole. 2017 is the year of the 30th anniversary of the Erasmus programme, renamed Erasmus + for the 2014-2020 programming. This program, in a Europe considered in crisis, is the one with the most favorable opinions and one of the best known (Study TNS Sofres) among the Europeans, and is constantly evolving.

The Erasmus programme started as a voluntary cooperation of 11 European countries. This cooperation has developed to 33 programme countries. This is in addition to the 27 partner countries.
